"The world doesn't make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do?" -Pablo Picasso

Once The West: Women Going Places

This body of work reimagines the American West through a contemporary, revisionist lens—one where women are not just present, but central, free, and commanding. Drawing from the visual language of classic Westerns, these paintings integrate modern fashion, symbolic iconography, and a surreal sense of narrative to reclaim a space historically dominated by male figures.

The series follows a group of women—riders, wanderers, witnesses—each portrayed at a moment of passage. Through vivid beasts, charged landscapes, and striking poses, they move with autonomy, daring, and quiet power. This is not simply about inserting women into Western tropes, but about redefining them entirely—allowing female figures to be the hero, the outlaw, the legend.
